Production Assembly

Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Overtime is required.

• Position parts of device to be assembled in the prescribed order in accordance
with production guidelines and fasten parts together using screws, bolts and hand
• Solder components, wires, etc. in the designed locations in accordance with
production guidelines.
• A thorough understanding on mixing adhesives and encapsulation.
• Capable to rework and repair PWB’s.
• Tag or mark identifying information on parts.
• Adjust and grind down parts if necessary.
• Use calipers and micrometers to measure parts and determine tolerances.
• Capable to remove and replace SMT components including QFP’s and BTC
• A thorough understanding on hand placing SMT components with solder paste.
• A thorough understanding on PA’s and rackmount assemblies.
• Capable to provide continuity test on coax cables and harnesses.
• Experience with building wire harnesses and coax cables.
• Able to disassemble and reassemble modules and rackmounts.
• Able to cut and modify traces on PCB’s.
• Excellent manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination required.
• Able to work from verbal instructions and engineering sketches.
• Ability to work under a microscope or other aided magnification.
• Demonstrated ability with using basic test measurement equipment; such as multi-
meters or test boxes.
• Maintain close security of the company’s assets, including equipment, tools and

approved quality standards.
• Properly maintain company property and accountability for loss, theft or misuse.
• Ensure that the policies and practices of the employee handbook are followed
within the department.
• Help ensure the safety of other assemblers.
• Adheres to the Operations Safety Program at all times including wearing personal
protective equipment in the designated areas.

• Work with engineers on new designs and product introduction.
• Report any changes that may impact shipments and/impact the daily schedule to
the Production Assembly Supervisor and/or Production Manager.
• Ensure company compliance with AS9100.

• Proficient with reading and understanding blue prints, assembly drawings, bills of
materials and schematics.
• Proficient with the use of hand and power tools.
• Demonstrated ability with basic assembly techniques and approaches.
• Soldering skills consistent with J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 Class III. Must be
capable of obtaining certification to IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, J-STD-001 Space and
IPC7711/7721. Current certification a plus.
• Able to work independently with minimal or no supervision.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Associates degree (A. A.) from two-year college or technical school preferred; or ten years minimum of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, bill of materials, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
