General Duties and Responsibilities: The Space Quality Engineer is responsible for monitoring and improving the Quality of our space product through tasks assigned by the Quality Director. This will include tasks associated with evaluating the Quality of company products, customer requirements and the effectiveness of the quality management system. The Space Quality Engineer must be able to work with minimal supervision and effectively complete projects while maintaining the routine quality functions. The Space Quality Engineer must be able to communicate effectively within the company as well as with customers and suppliers in order to communicate requirements and solve problems and must be able to work in a multi-task environment. The following tasks and additional tasks may be assigned:

• Maintain the Quality Management System and Quality Records in accordance with AS9100 and customer Space related requirements.
• Conduct reviews and internal audits to keep all quality procedures and processes current and relevant.
• Generate new procedures and processes, as required.
• Assist in all design review activities.
• Coordinate supplier quality activities.
• QE support as needed for receiving, in-process, final.
• Participate in material review board decisions.
• Present first article packages to customers.
• Supplier visits- surveys, inspections, and corrective action.
• Internal corrective actions and failure analysis.
• Implement SPC for high volume production.
• Developing yield collection gates, and providing results (charts) each month.
• Write work instructions.
• Work with all levels of management and other personnel.
• Drive continual improvement.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities: The Space Quality Engineer is assigned to Design Project Teams and is responsible for Various Quality functions including but not limited to; Requirements reviews, Risk Management Plan, Contract Requirements flow-down, Supplier Qualification, Quality Plan, FRACAS problem identification and resolution, Configuration Management and completion reports, plans and documentation required by contract.
• Understand all customer requirements; ensure they are adequately translated into the manufacturing process; stay current with all customer contracts, specifications and associated changes.
• Interface with the customer on quality related issues.
• Ensure all products manufactured and delivered meet the customer requirements for contract.

Qualifications:
• Knowledge of space requirements for loaded and bare printed circuit boards. Strong mechanical background-calipers, height gages, pin gages, CMM, optical comparator, etc. Able to perform first articles. IPC-A-610 experience or other soldering experience such as DOD-STD-2000. AS9100 and Space related Quality experience.
• A Bachelors’ or Master’s degree and 5 plus years related to Space Quality.

• The ability to write routine reports, including Corrective Action Requests, waivers or variances and official supplier to customer correspondence when and wherever warranted. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations. Understanding of military and commercial contract space related requirements.
• Must be able to read, interpret drawing dimensions per ASME Y14.5.
• Experience with AS 9100 QMS. Experience writing quality assurance procedures and work instructions.
• Ability to work under demanding delivery schedules to meet company and customer commitments.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Excellent project management skills.
• Must be able to effectively communicate effectively with internal and external customers and vendors.
• ASQ certification, 6 sigma black belt certification and Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of EPICOR MRP system a PLUS.

Must be a US Person and be able to obtain a US Security Clearance.
