Job Description:

General Duties and Responsibilities: The Quality Engineer is responsible for monitoring and improving the quality of our product through tasks assigned by the Quality Manager. This will include tasks associated with evaluating the quality of company products, customer requirements and the effectiveness of the quality management system. The Quality Engineer must be able to work with minimal supervision and effectively complete projects while maintaining the routine quality functions. The Quality Engineer must be able to communicate effectively within the company as well as with customers and suppliers in order to communicate requirements and solve problems and must be able to work in a multi-task environment. The following tasks and additional tasks may be assigned:

• Maintain the Quality Management System and Quality Records in accordance with
• Conduct reviews and internal audits to keep all quality procedures and processes
current and relevant.
• Generate new procedures and processes, as required.
• Assist in all design review activities.
• Coordinate supplier quality activities.
• QE support as needed for receiving, in-process, final.
• Participate in material review board decisions.
• Present first article packages and source inspection products to customers.
• Supplier visits- surveys, inspections, and corrective action.
• Internal corrective actions and failure analysis.
• Implement SPC for high volume production.
• Write work instructions.
• Work with all levels of management and other personnel.
• Drive continual improvement.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities: The Quality Engineer is assigned to design project teams and is responsible for various quality functions including but not limited to; requirements reviews, risk management plan, contract review, contract requirements flow-down, supplier qualification, quality plan, and completion of reports, plans and documentation required by contract.

• Understand all customer requirements; ensure they are adequately translated into
the manufacturing process; stay current with all customer contracts, specifications
and associated changes.
• Interface with the customer and suppliers on quality related issues.
• Ensure all products manufactured and delivered meet the customer requirements
for contract.

Strong mechanical background-calipers, height gages, pin gages, CMM, optical comparator, etc. Able to perform first articles. IPC-A-610 experience or other soldering experience such as DOD-STD-2000.

Two to ten years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree a plus.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The ability to write routine reports, including Corrective Action Requests, waivers or variances and official supplier to customer correspondence when and wherever warranted. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations. Understanding of military and commercial contract requirements. Must be able to read, interpret drawing dimensions per ASME Y14.5. Experience with AS9100/ISO 9001 QMS. Experience writing quality assurance procedures and work instructions.

Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, as well as knowledgeable in elementary statistics. Familiar with ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 Inspection Sampling Plan.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

Computer Skills:
MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Internet software, E-mail, Database software

ASQ, Lean Six Sigma Certification or manufacturing experience a plus.
