Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Administrative – Resources
• Ensure time cards for all departments are accurately completed and approved to the fidelity demanded by management
• Coordinate, schedule and approve all PTO requests
• Ensure department resources are utilized efficiently and in line with organizational goals of labor utilization measurements
• Create and analyze Headcount Forecasts in accordance with organizational demand planning
• Conduct performance reviews for all assigned resources and coordinate with technical leads for applicable technical feedback

Overhead Planning and Execution
• Plan, monitor, and control labor and non-labor overhead budgets for the Design Engineering Department.

Design Engineering Project Portfolio Management
• Manage the Project Engineering team and ensure the successful execution of all engineering projects in terms of cost, schedule and technical compliance
• Create and submit recurring Design Engineering portfolio project status to management
• Complete and analyze Design Engineering project cost rollups and execute cost control mechanisms to ensure projects are completed within budgetary constraints
• Complete and provide ETC (Estimates to Complete) /EACs (Estimates at Completion) for all design engineering projects in coordination with assigned Project Engineering Department
• Ensure proper scheduling of design engineering resources such that resource allocation is optimized and deconflict project demands as required
• In coordination with technical leadership, ensure that all design engineering projects are adequately resource loaded in accordance with project requirements

Proposal Support
• Coordinate with department resources and generate schedules, labor and material bid sets for proposals which require the support of the Engineering Department (i.e. New Designs, IRAD initiatives, support to Production)

Additional Duties
• Ensure the company is compliant to AS9100 for all applicable process areas
• Continuous improvement of engineering business area to include department workflow and process engineering
• Ensure that engineering labs are clean and maintained and that Design Engineering assets are properly inventoried and controlled.
• Participate in engineering design reviews, and critique designs
• Coordinate with the production support and operations assets to ensure appropriate transition of designs to production.
• Participate and monitor department training plan and execute non-technical department training initiatives
• Coordinate with management to establish a world class engineering capability within the company.
• Work with all other organizational departments and executive management as required to fulfill company objectives.
• Review department objectives and establish goals within the groups.
• Support customer visits as required.
• Perform duties as required from management.

Education:
A Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from a four-year college or university, preferably in a technical discipline with five plus years related experience in a leadership position; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Business experience or degree is desirable.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Higher level mathematics, such as calculus, is also required.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:
The following skills are mandatory: MS Office, (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and MS Project) Internet software, and email.
