Aethercomm Model Number TR 0.225-1.850-50 is a high power, dual band, transmit/receive (TR) module that operates from 225 to 450 MHz and 1200 to 1850 MHz minimum and is packaged in an enclosure that is optimized for state of the art military radio applications employed on helicopters. The state of the art GaN broadband power amplifiers are employed in communication systems where high power, high efficiency and high linearity are required across the UHF and L Band spec- trums. All modes of WNW and SRW and legacy UHF waveforms are transmitted and received. The power added efficiency of this amplifier is typi- cally 30-50 percent depending on the band of operation. Typical output power is 50 watts and is controllable in 0.5 dB increments or decrements depending on the band of operation and the waveform employed. Power gain is ~25 to 30 dB. Input VSWR is 2.0:1 maximum. The receive func- tion includes low noise amplification with filtering and limiting. Tx/Rx and Rx/Tx switching times are extremely fast at 40 uSecs maximum. Standard features include reverse polarity protection, output short and open circuit protection, and over/under voltage protection. All functionality is controlled via an onboard FPGA. All BIT/FIT signals are controlled and routed through this assembly to the host exciter. Temperature is monitored and reported by this module along with many other health parameters. This RF amplifier operates from a MIL-STD- 704F DC power supply. There is an ALC function on this module that ensures excellent power flat- ness across the full band. There are multiple power modes. Low power, medium and high power modes are command from the exciter. This unit operates from -40ºC to +85ºC base plate temperature. The thermal management system is designed into the sides of this broadband, rugged and robust module.
This high power TR assembly is employed in high shock and vibration environments. It is designed and tested to withstand MIL-STD-810 helicopter requirements even during high shock and vibe missile shots. Standard housing size is approximately 4.50 (w) by 9.40 (l) by 7.80(h) inches. The RF input port is BNC female. The antenna connector is a TNC female. DC and logic connections are accessible via mil-circular connectors. There are programming ports and many other features that are not shown. Typical test data appears on page two of this data sheet at room temperature.
