Aethercomm Model Number SSPA 0.225-0.450- 100 is a high power, transmit only, solid state RF amplifier that operates from 225 MHz to 450 MHz minimum and is packaged in an enclosure that is optimized for state of the art military radio applications. This SSPA takes a 70 MHz IF input and performs a dual up-conversion to UHF. At the UHF RF frequency band this power amplifier is employed in communication systems where high power, high efficiency and high linearity is required. It transmits all the legacy waveforms and the newer WNW and SRW waveforms. All modes of WNW and SRW are compliant and utilized. The power added efficiency of this amplifier is typically 30-40 percent. Typical output power is 100 watts but it is controllable in 1.0 dB increments or decrements depending on the band of operation and the waveform employed. Power gain is ~48-51 dB. Input VSWR is 2.0:1 maximum. It offers very low phase noise across the band. Key line On/Off times is 20 uSecs maximum. Standard features include reverse polarity protection, output short and open circuit protection, and over/under voltage protection. All functionality is controlled via an onboard FPGA. All BIT/FIT signals are controlled and routed through this assembly to the host exciter. Temperature is monitored and reported by this module along with many other health parameters. This RF amplifier operates from a MIL-STD- 704F DC power supply. There is an ALC function on this module that ensures excellent power flatness across the full band. This unit operates from -40ºC to +85ºC base plate temperature. The thermal management system is designed for conduction into a heat sink for this broadband, rugged and robust module.

This high power SSPA is employed in high shock and vibration environments onboard fighter aircraft. It is designed and tested to withstand MIL-STD-810 aircraft requirements. Standard housing size is approximately 6.0(w) by 10.5(l) by 3.0(h) inches. There is an integral DC-DC converter. The IF input port is TNC female. The antenna port is a Type N Female DC and logic connections are accessible via milcircular connectors. There are programming ports and many other features that are not shown. Typical test data appears on page two of this data sheet at room temperature.
